The wheels are in motion for the launch of the country's biggest ever rollercoaster on St Stephen's Day. The 2,000ft ride is the centrepiece at this year's Funderland amusement park at Dublin's RDS. Passengers will rise to a maximum height of 85ft before plummeting back towards earth at 50mph.
It contains a full 360 degree loop and has come all the way from Italy for its Irish outing. The coaster, designed by German rollercoaster engineer Anton Schwarzkopf, is being constructed on the site at present, as our picture by Steve Humphreys shows. John McGee of Funderland said: "It's a huge new rollercoaster and the biggest machine of its kind ever in . She's a looping rollercoaster, formidable!"
