Lange vermutet, jetzt offiziell:

Park News & Rumors - (11/15/02) In a press release today, Six Flags has announced that Jazzland will change its name to Six Flags New Orleans and recieve $20 million in improvements next season. Season Passes are already on sale it seems, and are good at all other Six Flags parks world-wide. In addition to the Batman inverted coaster, the park will add a second steel coaster called “The Jester” will have three inversions and 1900 feet of track in the Mardi Gras area. From the stats, this seems to match up very well with the closed Joker’s Revenge from Six Flags Fiesta Texas. They will build an all new DC Comics land in the park to house Batman, next to Cajun Country. Additional thrill rides and buildings will be added to reinforce the superhero them of the new land. They will also transform the kiddie area of the park into Looney Tunes Land. Batman will also arrive in the form of a new water Stunt Show. Overall the park will add six new rides next season.

2003 - Batman: The Ride - Confirmed - (11/13/02) The park is just awaiting approval for their building permits to start work on their 2003 attractions. The press conference wont be until Thursday, but plans submitted place the B&M Inverted coaster in Cajun Country, behind Cypress Plunge and Zydeco Scream. Other items listed on the plans include three new rides where Jazz Lake is now as: New Shake Ride, New Jukebox Ride, New Windshear Ride. I’m not sure about the rest, though a Mondial Shake comes to mind.

$20 Million Package To Transform Park for 2003 Season

November 14, 2002

New Orleans -- Six Flags, Inc., the world's largest regional theme park company and operator of Jazzland Theme Park, today announced a new name, new rides, new themeing, and a renewed commitment to bringing world-class family entertainment to the region. Construction has already begun on the newly named Six Flags New Orleans, which will feature nearly $20 million in capital improvements, including two new roller coasters, for the 2003 season.

"As of today and forever more, Jazzland is Six Flags New Orleans," said Terry Prather, Six Flags
New Orleans general manager. "When we re-open next spring, our guests will experience the type of thrills, excitement, themeing, characters, and entertainment that only a Six Flags theme park can deliver."

Six Flags, recognized as the number one brand among kids ages 6-17, owns and operates
39 parks around the world. With the addition of Six Flags New Orleans, the company boasts
16 Six Flags branded theme parks in the US, one in Mexico and two in Europe. The company's exclusive theme park licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Comics allows Six Flags rights to the famous Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Daffy Duck and pals and the world's greatest Super Heroes, Batman, Superman and friends.

"Initially, we planned to re-brand the park over the next two years," said Gary Story, president,
Six Flags, Inc. "However, as a result of our growing commitment to the New Orleans region, we chose to accelerate our schedule, increase the rate of capital improvements and add the Six Flags brand to the park for the 2003 season."

The transformed Six Flags New Orleans theme park will feature two new roller coasters including Batman: The Ride, a sleek and powerful suspended, looping roller coaster based on the legendary and courageous DC Comics super hero, Batman. Another new coaster featuring three wicked inversions and more than 1,900 feet of track will open in the park's Mardi Gras themed area.

Batman: The Ride, created by the renowned roller coaster designers at Bolliger & Mabillard, will take guests on a soaring journey 105 feet in the air, cruising along 2,700 feet of twisted steel track at speeds of up to 50 mph. Riders will be comfortably seated in ski lift style chairs, suspended from the track above, as they fly through hairpin turns, two vertical loops, two corkscrews, and a
one-of-a-kind zero gravity heart line spin with nothing but air beneath their dangling feet.

The Batman themed coaster will reside in the DC Comics themed area, a completely new area of the park located adjacent to Cajun Country. The area, anchored by Batman: The Ride, will feature extensive super hero themeing, additional thrill rides, retail venues offering popular DC Comics branded souvenirs and refreshment outlets.

And, there's a new section just for the little ones. Junior thrill seekers can look forward to interacting with their favorite Looney Tunes characters in the transformed children's area, Looney Tunes Land. Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester and all their lovable pals will be on hand daily to greet kids and perform in their own special show.

Six Flags New Orleans' 2003 entertainment line-up will be headlined by an action packed Batman themed water stunt show. Batman and his archrivals will have audience members on the edge of their seats as they splash and track down Gotham City's evil villians on the wet set of this Hollywood-style action stunt show.

"Next year's opening of Six Flags New Orleans will have a tremendous impact on the region,"
Story said. "The transformation set to take place at the park this winter will be nothing short of phenomenal, enhancing a destination already known around the world for good times."

Season passes are now on sale at www.sixflags.com.

Mal gespannt
a) wierum das in der neuen Heimat geht
b) was in die alte Heimat von J.R. (*grins) nach San Antonio (nicht Dallas) kommen mag.
