Funtime - (11/22/03) On Friday I found the one ride concept at the show that scared me... the StarFlyer. Take your standard Swings flat ride idea... but spin it fast enough that the riders swing out to a 90º angle where they are going 53 mph. Then raise the riders up high into the clouds... 240 feet in the air... where they spin to the point that you think your little air-chair just might break free and then the whole ride drops about 60 feet. Before you know what has happened it goes back up to the top and then drops again and again. The StarFlyer was designed by Funtime, the minds that brought the Spring Shot to Orlando’s Old Town. The StarFlyer prototype is in the final stages of testing and once it is TUV approved they hope to have one installed at Old Town in time for IAAPA 2004.
