PRESS RELEASE
DECEMBER 2004 New Rollercoaster for SA's Best Action Venue
Gold Reef City have unveiled it's multi-million rand investment in a new roller coaster, the likes of which have never been seen in Johannesburg before. "This has been an exciting year for the Gold Reef City Theme Park and we can't think of a better way to celebrate the year-end with our patrons than with our new roller coaster, the Jozi Express, the likes of which are unparalleled in this country", says an excited Steve Cook, general manager of the Theme Park.
The rollercoaster took eight months to build, but runs at a speed of 68Km/h, is 24 meters high, 702 meters long and can hold a capacity of 600 patrons an hour. The rollercoaster also has two "baby" rollercoaster rides built beside it namely; Dreamboat and the UFO, so this makes for a great family rollercoaster. "This is a great ride for the whole family, it is an exciting and thrilling ride without the fear factor of some of the other rides", says Steve Cook.
The thrilling ride was officially named as The Jozi Express when it launched at the Gold Reef City Theme Park recently. The rollercoaster will be one of the new featured attractions this festive season, together with the Dr Doolittle's Farmyard which presents a wide range of animals like ducks, geese, horses, pony's, goats, Alpacas, a miniature horse and miniature mule, a Capuchin Monkey, a beautiful bird aviary and many other animals.
The name was given to the farmyard because it has a happy, friendly and colourful atmosphere plus the animals (of course) similar to the Dr Doolittle character. There's also a waterfall and rock feature through the farmyard. You can access the New Rollercoaster by walking through the farmyard; this is one of the entrances into the new area and rollercoaster.
Can you think of a better way to end the year than with the best action venue in the southern hemisphere?
