Emergency services were called just after 12 noon today, after receiving reports that a man had fallen from a ride at Flamingoland in Kirbymisperton.

He has been taken to the James Cook Hospital on Teeside, with what are believed to be serious injuries.

Police say the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.

It is reported that the man was a worker at Flamingoland, who has stepped into the path of the Magnum Force roller coaster.

Man seriously hurt in theme park accident

It is understood a member of staff has been seriously hurt on a rollercoaster ride at the Flamingoland theme park near Malton in North Yorkshire.

Although the precise details are still emerging, it is thought the accident happened on the park's Magnum Force attraction shortly before noon. The ride's operator is believed to have stepped in front of the moving ride and was flung into the air.

Emergency services said the the man was seriously injured and confirmed that an air ambulance was scrambled to the site. The man has been taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesborough.
