Die fantastischen Vier sind zurück
Hi,
Doch nun bin ich wieder halbwegs of MEZ gepolt, also, los geht's!
Tim :-wink2

Speed at the Sahara
Well, I did not expect anything from this ride.
I was wrong!!!
Speed is pure adrenaline rush. Glass smooth. Powerful. Probably the best coaster on the Strip. Oddly enough, you're able to watch a real green-arrow-to-the-left traffic-lights located at the corner of Sahara Ave and the Strip while waiting for the launch. Then Speed shoots out of the station and makes a left, very odd!
Errr, surely the best coaster on the Strip, coz there aren't that many competitors. At least the 10.50-Dollar-Manhattan-Express-Earbashing-Orgy is no. I wonder, if that price is part of the themeing!!!
Knott's Scary Farm
what do you expect from Germany's biggest ghost-train and walk-through-attraction fan?
IT WAS A BLAST!!!
9 haunted mazes, two of those with strange 3-D-effects, two haunted rides (log flume and Clalico mine-ride), 3 scare-zones (areas in the park where the ghouls, and many of them, are waiting for you) and loads of gory shows containing thousands of gallons of fake blood - i luuuuuuurved it!
"The Underground" and "Alien Attack" were my favourite mazes, but all of them were stunning, esspacially the slaughterhouse-scene of the "Lore of the Vampires"-maze that had even the Pump-Panel-Reconstruction-Mix of New Order's "Confusion" playing, known from the "Blade"-movie.
Horror-fans out there, go to Knott's Scary Farm NOW!!! And don't miss "Red Moon Massacre" - I've never been that much scared on a log ride!
Disney's California Adventure
I love that park. I truly mirrors the relaxed californian atmosphere. "California Screaming" is really good family looping-coaster (maybe the world's first?). Very smooth, perfectly engineered. "Soaring over California" is maybe the best simulator experience ever. "Superstar Limo" lacks a bit, but is still fun. The only thing that really annoyed me was that unusual plexiglass-thingie in front of your head while riding the "Maliboomer" Space-Shot-ride. Really bad!
Their rapids-ride is my new favourite, so well done! But I got off soaked, as everybody! You just can't win, so you can't take that into the "Rapids-God-Account". Tell me if somebody next year will manage to get off scotch-free, then I'll hand that sache over to that person!
I knew "It's tough to be a bug" already from Animal Kingdom in Florida, but it was again a pleasure to see all those kids coming out of the theatre crying...hehe! Hello, Disney: This is SCARY! You'd better set up signs!
Now you're wondering what's so scary, but i won't spoil the fun...!
SuxFlags Magic Mountain
well, on with the lesser entertaining parts of the trip: SUX FLAGS!
First: Of course, and nobody expected anything else, Deja Vu was closed.
Also closed were Ninja and Flashback.
Thank god, the latter opened later in the day, but Deja Vu, beside X the main reason for going to SuxFlagsMM again, remained closed all day. It was said "It may open tomorrow", but that was the latest day of our tour and probably my last visit to that park...! Y'know, in October, SFMM is open just Fri to Sun, means, they do have 4 days a week to make sure everything is in working order. They are just not guest-caring. I really do hate SF now, and I keep my fingers crossed they'll get bancrupt very soon!
On with Goliath...
Why everyone's raving about Goliath, the only coaster that was new to me at SFMM, is beyond me. Goliath is certainly the worst Hypercoaster I've ever been on, at least the way SuxFlags is running it. They set the lift speed to "creeping slow" just before the train is about to reach the apex, then it ssslllooowwwlllyyy makes it over the top, and what happens...?
No airtime, not even in the back seat. Nothing.
OK, you plummet down that not really steep ramp, shoot through the tunnel at the bottom, careen through the turnaround, then down the second drop. A slight hint of airtime is noticeable here, but only in the back car. The nice floater hill, to me the best part of the whole ride, follows. Up on the trim brake, down the s-curve and then the helix...well, everything seems to be already said about that part of the ride, but I'd say:
It is just plain painful, esspacially in the front car. I bet, if the trim brake would not be working, it would be just unrideable for everyone. To me, it is already unrideable now, and I am certainly no coaster wimp as I withstood the forces of "Thriller" dozens, if not hundreds of times. I came to the conclusion that...
...I LIKE THE BIG ONE BETTER!
Their "Fright Fest" Halloween Festivities were surprisingly good, esspacially if you take in account that this is a SixFlags Park. The park was really well decorated, okok, nowhere near as good as Knott's Scary Farm, but still very well done. "Jokester's Hideout" is a maze not to be missed, so is "Willoghby's Haunted Mansion". "Brutal Planet" seemed to me like a cheap version of Knott's excellent "Underground"-maze, but was still good. The mazes where certainly the higlights of our visit to SFMM, and I have no idea how we would have spent the time, if they had not been there.
