Liquid Coaster für Finnland
Millersville, Maryland, November 2000
- Linnanmaki Amusement Park in Helsinki, Finland will be home to northern Europe's first Water Coaster. Scheduled to open in spring of 2001, Premier Rides of Millersville, Maryland has been contracted to build and install the park's largest ride investment in its 50-year history.
The ride is a traditional roller coaster designed tot incorporate untraditional wet fun! The Water Coaster features vehicles that remain on tubular steel track through the entire course of the ride- even while careening through thousands of gallons of rushing white water.
"the new Water Coaster is exactly what we looked for to round-out our ride mix and existing collection of roller coasters," said Kalle Justander, managing director of Linnanmaki Amusement Park. "Having three distinctively different coasters will be very valuable to us in the promotion of the park for many years."
The Water Coaster delivers a very consistent ride experience for guests and allows parks to integrate many special effects, such as misters, smoke and fog. The Water Coaster is an ideal attraction for challenging topography and tighht radiuses. A combination of track gradient and pump-generated water flow, propel the Water Coaster vehicles through the entire course of the ride.
The Linnanmaki ride will be called Vonkaputous, which in Finnisch means "speed fall" and is related to the logging industry. This installation will feature a 80-foot lift hill and a drop of 41 feet into the water, which acts as a braking mechanism. The ride will be 1,050 feet in length and will have three, 10 passenger trains with riders sitting two abreast.
"Linnanmaki Amusement Park, like so many other parks, has some unique site requirements," said Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides. "our engineers were able to design a lot of ride experience into a limited space while maximizing every square meter available."
Premier Rides succesfully entered the European market this past season with the production and installation of new high-tech wood coaster trains for Warner Bros. Movie World in Bottrop, Germany.
"The Linnanmaki Amusement Park Water Coaster will be our first complete ride installation in Europe," Seay said. "We know the European amusement eyes are upon us and we are certain the Premier Rides team will deliver a spectacular ride to a first-rate park."
Premier Rides is a global supplier of high-tech roller coasters, round rides, towers, water rides and custom designed attractions. The company also offers engineering services and a comprehensive parts division supplying service for both U.S. and European rides on a 24-hour day basis.
