Moin Nach einem Bericht auf Screamscape.com wird es interessant werden, ob der Heidepark den Rekord für die höchste Achterbahn der Welt wie geplant irgendwann bekommen wird. Denn anscheinend werden die seit langem kursierenden gerüchte um eine Achterbahn-ähnliche Anlage am Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas konkreter. Hätt ich das vor einer Zeit noch für einen Whopper of the week gehalten, so muss man das Projekt mittlerweile etwas ernster sehen. Bleibt eigentlich nur die Frage, ob man das Ding auch Achterbahn nennen wird bzw. darf. Mit mehr als 700 ft hätte jedenfalls eine normale Achterbahn keine Chance mehr. Und selbst wenn die Jungs in Vegas nicht hinbekommen, bleibt da immer noch der kranke Rolls Royce Fahrer aus England, der mindestens genauso verrückt wie Herr Tiemann ist und der im Zeitplan ähnlich liegt... Ich habe das Gefühl, dass es doch irgendwann wieder passieren wird, dass ich in einer Achterbahn sitze und höllische Angst vorm First Drop haben werde... 700ft wäre ja echt heftig.
Ist klar, dass der Heide-Park darunter bleiben wird. Ich denke, irgendwann ist es auch genug mit der Höhe. Als Weltrekordbahn werden sie es trotzdem darstellen. Wird dann halt die größte "klassische" Achterbahn der Welt, nachdem sie schon die größte "klassische" Holzachterbahn gebaut haben ;-)
Die hoechste Achterbahn momentan ist ja ohnehin "Superman - The Escape" im Six Flags Magic Mountain mit 126.5 Metern. Auch das wird der Heidepark nie uebertreffen koennen. Allerdings handelt es sich dabei um eine Bahn ohne geschlossenen Rundkurs. Und da fangen dann wieder die Haarspaltereien bei der Definition einer Achterbahn an. Was hat es mit der englischen Bahn auf sich?

The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino wants to build a rollercoaster that runs down the side of the tower, crossing Las Vegas boulevard. Executives say they've spent several hundred thousand dollars working with Arrow , one of the leading roller coaster companies in the country. They've been doing feasibility studies to see if it's even possible to build the coaster on the side of the tower...and they say it is. The thrill of speed and the rush of adrenaline can be seen up and down the Las Vegas strip. But on the north end of the strip, it's the noise that's heard. Jack LeVine lives in a neighborhood facing the east side of the tower. He says, "We hear lots of noise from the top of the tower as it is, the screaming, every 15 minutes,Ahh, Ahh, Ahh!!! and now they're going to add an addition to this!" LeVine is talking about the Stratosphere. The hotel prides itself on having the world's tallest rollercoaster and freefall ride, but it wants to top that by building the ulitmate thrill ride. It resembles a giant ski jump. Passengers would be lifted 750 feet up in the air and then would plunge down the east side of the tower...racing 120 miles per hour while crossing over Las Vegas Boulevard. Residents like LeVine are not happy about the project. He is the president of the Southridge Neighborhood Association and has been walking door to door passing out flyers to rally support against the rollercoaster. "We believe those homes will lose value, be unrentable, unsellable that will just create a worse living situation," says LeVine. Executives at the Stratosphere say they would be willing to meet with neighbors. A spokesman released a statement saying, "We're very excited about the ride. We believe it's a good investment and will bring a lot of foot traffic to our hotel." The Stratosphere is located in Councilman Gary Reese's ward. Reese says, "To me this is real good on one side, but yet we do have to protect our neighbors hopefully we can work something out where we can't impact the noise." "There's no question that we're all in favor of preserving the economy of Las Vegas, we make our livelihood off that, but the fact of the matter is at some point you have make a decision, people live here. We're not just a casino," says John Delikanakis another resident.. The neighborhood association says 900 homes will be affected if the roller coaster is built. The residents will meet on Tuesday night at Fremont Middle School to plan on how to stop the Stratosphere's project. The proposal will go before the Planning Commission on September 6th. hmm, ich denke der Heide Park wird es wieder so drehen,das es aussieht als hätten sie die höchste.... Denn meiner Meinung nach ist SoB der höchste Woodie... nur mal so nebenbei.

Jepp,so Gesehen schon,aber manche Sehen SoB ja nicht als "Richtigen" Woodie an,da die Bahn ja Bekanntlich einen Looping aus STAHL hat...meiner Meinung nach ist SoB aber ein Woodie und damit der Höchste.
Aslo wen jemand sagt das Colossos der hoechste Woodie is, dann sind das meiner Erfahrung nach nur der Heide-Park und unwissende deutsche. Das neue Konzept von Arrow (OUCH!!!!), soll ja so ne Art Fischhaken sein. Ich frag mich nur: Man faellt 740 fuss und dann NUR 415 fuss wieder hoch! Meiner meinung sieht das wie nen typischer RCT-Crasher aus ;-D. Num ja, ich glaub aber nicht das sie die erlaubnis bekommen. Nen Freefall an der Seite waer eh geiler: Abschuss von unten bis oben mit Ueberhang(!). Ueber 200m nicht unten drunter.
Der Unterbau des Loopings ist aus Stahl, das ist richtig (obwohl er von W. Stengel urspruenglich als Holzkonstruktion berechnet wurde). Die Schiene besteht meines Wissens nach aber wieder aus Holz mit Eisenbeschlag, wie es fuer einen Woodie ueblich ist. Aber das ist irgendwie OT.
zu Colossos: Bis vor kurzem hatte ich auf meiner Startseite stehen: Colossos ist die Höchste Holzachterbahn Europas. Vor kurzem habe ich eine Mail vom Heide Park bekommen, in der stand, dass sie sich freuen würden, wenn ich schreiben würde: Höchste reine Holzachterbahn der Welt. Also in sofern hat der Heide Park recht - oder?
