SOeben erreicht mich folgende Nachricht. Ich fürchte fast, dass wird in den nächsten 5 Jahren wieder in jedem Bericht zu sehen sein...
Twenty eight people had to be rescued from a rollercoaster at Alton Towers theme park on Sunday afternoon.
The Corkscrew ride failed to complete its circuit, trapping the visitors in its triple loop for 90 minutes.

A spokesman for the park said no one was injured and an investigation is underway into what went wrong.

The same rollercoaster failed in 1997, trapping four members of staff as they carried out a routine test ride. They had to climb off using a ladder.

The Corkscrew ride, now in the dinosaur-themed Ug Land section of the park, was introduced to Alton Towers in 1980.

The park calls it its first "true thrill ride", and it was the first in the UK to invert riders twice in quick succession.

But enthusiasts nowadays say it is old-fashioned and offers a very average ride.

The Staffordshire park is the most-visited theme park in Britain, with 40 million visitors since the Corkscrew was introduced.

Richtig, die sind baugleich. Ich kann mir das auch immoment überhaupt nicht erklären, da die Dinger seit eigentlich 20 Jahren störungsfrei verlaufen und vorallem mit einer solchen Geschwindigkeit den Korkenzieher passieren, dass da eigentlich nichts schiefgehen sollte?

das verstehe ich auch nicht, wie so ein Ding
Probleme machen kann.

Aber meint Ihr wirklich, dass die baugleich sind?

Triple loop? Im Holiday-Park gibt´s keinen dreifachen
Looping. Aber solange sie läuft... :-)

In Alton Towers gibt es auch keinen Triple Loop. Da haben die Herren der BBC wohl einen Fehler gemacht. Die beiden Anlagen sind wie auch die Anlage in SFB Klone.

Hallo,

wo genau ist denn der Zug steckengeblieben? Etwa im Korkenzieher?

Soweit ich mich erinnern konnte gibt es aber auch eine Block-Bremse kurz vor dem Drop, der in die Helix führt. Soviel ich weiß, gibt es dort keine direkte Möglichkeit des Ausstiegs. Vielleicht war es ja nur da!?

Das mit dem Steckenbleiben kann schonmal passieren, wenn z.B. ein Radbolzen bricht und sich das Rad dann im schlimmsten Falle verkanntet. Entgleisen tut der Zug deswegen noch lange nicht (Zwillingsräder, Stahlkralle).
Dies sollte zwar bei richtiger Wartung nicht passieren, kann aber auf einer alten Bahn sowie auf einer neuen Bahn (Hust ;-)) durchaus passieren.

hier noch ein anderer Bericht, demnach scheint die Bahn also doch nicht im Corkscrew steckengeblieben zu sein:

28 Rescued From Theme Park Ride

Red-faced bosses at Alton Towers had to rescue 28 thrill-seekers from a ride after it broke down.
It is the first time the Corkscrew rollercoaster has ever broken down while in use in 21 years, and has left staff baffled as to what the problem was. Ladders were used to rescue the people on board.

Stranded

A spokesman for the Staffs park said: "The train set off as normal but failed to make a complete circuit. The train stopped at a low point and people were left stranded about 10-12ft off the ground.

"They were all brought down safety using ladders in about 90 minutes, no-one was injured in the incident."

The stranded were given passes to jump queues on other rides or to come back another day for free.

Folgendes gab es heute in der ECC-Mailingliste zu lesen:

For some reason the emergency brakes on the actual train kicked in (it is
possible that one of the wheels derailed itself or was in danger of but
anyway). It actually happened between the first and second corkscrew, the
train came of the first, brakes kicked in and it climbed to the top of the
second, didn't make it and rolled back and forth and son on until it came to
a stop between the two. Nobody was injured and it took about 45 minutes
maximum to evacuate the train. The ride was closed for the remainder of the
day however I manged to get a good shot of it which I will stick on my
website later on in the week !

Es gibt keine Emergency Brakes am Zug und auch nicht auf der Strecke zwischen den Corkscrews.
Falls ich mich irre (soll vorkommen), belehrt mich bitte eines besseren.

Also muß das Stranden durch irgendeinen Defekt an den Rädern hervorgerufen worden sein. Was mich dann allerdings wundert ist, daß der Zug anschließend seelenruhig zwischen den beiden Corkscrews ausgependelt hat.

wie kann die bahn baugleich wenn gerade mal 24 im ho pa in den zug passen? werden dort auch die bügel manuell geöffnet. bin mir ziemlich sicher da ich gerade von dort komme, kann eigentlich unmöglich sein, dass ich das auf der 5std fahrt vergessen hab
