There are currently over 100 firefighters tackling a blaze at UK park, Thorpe Park. The fire started on an outside boat ride, it goes through a
barn, and it seems it was this that propogated the fire. It has now spread to an area covering 200metres by 300metres, and has wrecked surrounding rides and attractions, and is encroaching on the Vekoma Haunted House there.

More than 100 firefighters are tackling a major blaze at Thorpe Park, in Surrey.
A number of attractions at the theme park are on fire.

The park has been evacuated and the owners of the park say there have been no injuries.

Its believed the fire broke out on the Mr Rabbit Tropical Travels boat ride and spread to neighbouring buildings

A spokeswoman for Surrey Fire Brigade said the fire began at 1500BST and had spread through the site.

She said: "The fire is currently involving 15 pumps, all persons have been accounted for and in fact all the public were evacuated from the buildings concerned before the fire crews arrived on the scene.

"The Tropical Travels building has collapsed due to the construction - it is a timber-framed building. The fire has subsequently spread to other buildings and rides, one of the rides being Wicked Witches."

It is not known how the fire started.

The park was packed with families enjoying the hot weather and the start of the weekend.

Amusement park in flames

Dozens of firefighters have been battling to control a blaze at Thorpe Park amusement park.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Fire Brigade said the blaze at Thorpe Park began in an area near one of the water rides and had spread through the site.

"There is a rather large fire there," she confirmed. "It's actually in Thorpe Park and various theme park rides are well alight.

Fifteen fire crews have been sent out, two aerial ladder platforms and various other appliances."
It is not known how the fire started.
The park was safely evacuated and there were no reports of any injuries.
A spokesman for Surrey Fire Brigade said the fire began on the Tropical Travels ride and quickly spread to other rides enveloping the Wicked Witches ride and other smaller rides.

The fire was currently involving burning buildings 200 metres by 300 metres, the spokesman said.
A fire investigation unit was at the scene and conducting enquiries as to how the fire started.

The amusement park was packed with families due to the hot weather and the start of the weekend, but no one was injured during the evacuation.

Firefighters had contained the fire but were expected to be on the site for a number of hours.
