Way through Phantasialand?

Hi all,

A long time I have a question about Phantasialand which was never answered. While I was reading postings on this forum from Phantasialand fans, I thought why not ask my question here.

I live in the Netherlands, so I have visited Phantasialand a lot of times. One thing at Phantasialand is very unusual. There is a kind of a small way between the park. When you enter the park at the main gate you are walking through Alt Berlin. After that you have to choose to go left or right. When you go right you have to cross over that small way. When you don't have a ticket for the park you have the possibility to walk this small way.
In the 80's there were two seperate bridges. Now they have construct one big tunnel over that way.

OK, you know what I'm talking about. Now my Question. Why this small way? I think it would be much easyer when there was no small way. Now the park has two sections. When you want to go to the other section you have to climb the stairs and go down. I think it would be much easyer when there was one park section. I think there is enough climbing in the park yet because of the hills.

Do you know what the profit is of this way? OK when the Mexico gate is closed you have a quick walk to the maingate of the park. That's the only reason I can find for using it.

Who can tell me why they have choose to have this small way while developping the park?

I would thank you much for answering.

Marcel Slangen.

As far as I know was the way already there when Phantasialand was built.
The Park first only consistsd of the part where the main gate is. The land on wich the other half of the park is built was bought later, and so they left the way (it's the driveway to the Mexico Parking lot, too).

Since all this was before I was born, I just tell what I've heard. Hope that helps. :)

Keep on coasting :-biggrin

No problem, ;-)

This way through the phantasialand is a public road and that is public owned, so the Phantasialand can't make it away it must be there!
