Park News - (6/12/02) Screamscape has learned that the park has closed down X quite possibly for the entire summer season. We’ve been told to expect a formal announcement of some kind in the very near future about it. Six Flags has even gone so far as to remove all references to X from their website. While the ECC (European Coaster Club) was there riding it on their California Screaming tour just a few days ago, it seems the one remaining functioning train on X broke “something” bad enough that it left them with no trains to run at all. Without going into too much detail it seems that while the track is solid, the incredibly large trains are developing some weak spots where things are breaking down quite often. With Arrow in bankruptcy, they are not around to continue work on it and while SFMM has been trying to keep it up and running as best as they can, they have been unable to solve all of the design problems on their own. So this is going to be bad news for anyone attending the ACE Con who was hoping to get a ride on X, but on the bright side Xcelerator should be open on their visit to Knott’s.
