Raptor1982 reports live from the Studios that the trees along the path between Disney Studio 1 and Studio Tram Tour have been dug out, ready for removal to allow the upcoming place-making project to go ahead.
This would therefore seem to confirm the earlier rumours of the project beginning next week, and hint that the work will be fairly substantial - remodelling the entire area rather than just building sets around it.
